Job Specification – UI/UX Developer (Contractor)

Location: London (Hybrid), Inside IR35 - up to £550 per day.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled UI/UX Developer Contractor to join a banking technology team. The contractor will be responsible for delivering high‑quality user interfaces using Angular and .NET MVC frameworks, with deep hands‑on experience in Telerik controls and theme customisation.

This role requires someone who can work autonomously, integrate quickly into an existing Agile team, and produce reliable, maintainable UI code suitable for a regulated financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance UI components using Angular and .NET MVC (including Telerik UI libraries).
• Implement responsive styling with CSS / SASS, ensuring alignment with design and branding standards.
• Build dynamic client‑side functionality using JavaScript and jQuery.
• Configure, customise, and extend Telerik controls across both Angular and MVC platforms.
• Use Progress ThemeBuilder to create and maintain custom themes for internal applications.
• Translate UX designs, wireframes, and prototypes into functional front‑end components.
• Optimise UI performance and ensure cross‑browser compatibility.
• Produce clean, well‑structured code with appropriate documentation.
• Work closely with technical leads, BA’s, and QA teams within Agile delivery cycles.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a UI/UX Developer contractor within financial services or large enterprise environments.
• Strong technical proficiency in:
  • CSS / SASS
  • JavaScript / jQuery
  • Angular (including Telerik UI for Angular)
  • .NET MVC (with Telerik UI for MVC)
  • Progress ThemeBuilder
• Experience integrating UI with RESTful API services.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility considerations, and cross‑browser support.
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimise front‑end performance.
• Comfortable working independently and delivering within agreed timelines.

Desirable Skills

• Previous banking or regulated‑industry experience.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices.
• Experience with Git‑based version control and CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of UX best practices and design‑system implementation.
