Description

Marcus Donald are currently in the market for a Senior Information Governance Officer to join a reputable educational organisation.

In this role, you will lead all Information Governance activities across the organisation. The team is responsible for the BAU activities of information governance management and data privacy compliance to GDPR and global data protection laws. 

**This is a fully remote / home-based position - all over UK**

Senior Information Governance Officer – Main Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of IG compliance requirements in the business with a particular focus on GDPR
  • Maintain an aligned set of effective policies and processes.
  • Create and maintain an up-to-date information asset register and legally compliant ROPA
  • Advise and ensure that suitable contracts are in place with suppliers which enforce necessary IG standards and obligations
  • Lead internal audit activities

Senior Information Governance Officer – Required: 

  • 4 years minimum experience in an Information Governance-related role.
  • Extensive experience working with a large and complex system.
  • Robust understanding of Data Protection and ROPA processes.
  • Knowledge / experience in DPIAs & SARs.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of data privacy legislation including GDPR.
  • Previous experience in dealing with incidents and tackling legacy systems.
  • Lead internal audit activities that will assure ongoing compliance and maintenance of appropriate controls and registers that assure the integrity of the organisations data privacy standards.
  • Excellent stakeholder management.
  • Strong experience of delivering operational compliance into a complex, established environment.

Senior Information Governance Officer – Desirable: 

  • Experience within a commercial environment.
  • Experience with dealing with incidents and tackling legacy systems
  • Strong overall technical background as opposed to legal
  • experience of delivering operational compliance into a complex, established environment
