Marcus Donald are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to work for a large innovative and forward-thinking organisation within the Oil and Energy sector, in Canary Wharf on a permanent basis.

This Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for the construction of data products for the business, delivering new functionality to the Data Services team. As part of this position, you will be engaging with technical leads amongst other technical staff, whilst making recommendations for implementing technical infrastructure and future data products.

Key responsibilities for this Senior Data Engineer:

• Facilitating the end-to-end data handling approach of Data Pipelines
• Ensuring privacy and security principles are assessed and designed
• Having knowledge within the portfolio of data journeys
• Ensuring personal work and colleagues work meets governing standards
• Supporting and receptive to Junior members of the team
• Working in an Agile/Collaborative way
• Providing documentation to ensure knowledge retention

Key skills for this Senior Data Engineer:

• Deployment (Essential) 
• Hadoop (Essential)
• Data Modelling (Essential) 
• Extensive knowledge of software design principles
• Data management, handling and processing
• Advanced with Python and SQL
• Knowledge of Linux
• Hands on platform experience such as; Azure, AWS and the Hadoop ecosystem
• Experience acting as a Senior team member

Desirable skills for this Senior Data Engineer:

• Scala/Java
• Cloud/Big data
• Data integration and ETL approaches
• Experience of metadata management
• Working with privacy or assurance teams
