Senior Back End Developer (Python)

Marcus Donald are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer (Python) who can participate in a large, fast-growing trading project within a spread betting / financial derivative trading organisation. The successful Python Developer will develop back-end components to improve responsiveness and overall performance.

If you have also worked within the financial industry previously then, even better but isn’t 100% necessary.

**Fully Remote / Home Based**

Senior Backend Developer (Python) – Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with product owners, designers and other developers to build a best-in-class experience for our customers
• Write effective, scalable code
• Integrate user-facing elements into the application
• Rapidly fix bugs and solve problems

 
Senior Backend Developer (Python) – Technical Required:

• Knowledge of Python and the Pythonic way of solving problems
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL and database design principles
• Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM)
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (like JavaScript and HTML5)
• Understanding of functional programming principles
• Ability to find your way in a non-trivial codebase
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

Senior Backend Developer (Python) – Desirable:

• Broad understanding of the concept of minimum viable product and conversion rates
• Experience with cloud (AWS)
• Agile development experience
• Knowledge of spread betting or financial derivative trading
