Description
Marcus Donald are currently working with a FTSE250 business (global revenue of £BILLIONS), who are on the lookout for a European Data Protection Officer to join and expand their global team. The main responsibility of this candidate will be to oversee the data protection in x4 country; UK, Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.
Although the office is based in Hertfordshire, the role is currently fully remote. With this being said, you will need to be living a commutable distance from Hertfordshire as there are plans in place of moving to 2/3 days per week in the office, in the near future. So, you will need to be willing to commute to Hertfordshire, as this is where ALL of the stakeholders are based.
We are looking for someone with deep familiarity with the regulatory requirements arising from Schrems II and the new Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure that the business compliantly transfers data across borders and in line with the latest law and guidance.

European Data Protection Officer – Responsibilities:
- Update and create data protection documentation
- Proactively identify improvements in global data protection
- Constantly dealing with multiple large client data
- Completing records of processing and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA)
- Support and improve the businesses processes for ensuring the rights of data subjects
- Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders at all business levels, globally
European Data Protection Officer – Required:
- 5 years minimum experience in Data Protection
- Experience in the design, implementation and management of controls relating to data protection legislation Clear ability to look and plan ahead
- Experience working with large and complex data / systems
- Aware and strong understanding of Data Protection laws all over Europe
- Someone who has a track record in achieving Compliance based goals
- Understanding of Enterprise IT Systems and/or Cloud Solutions
- Experience in working internationally
- A minimum of a 2:1 in a Uni degree
European Data Protection Officer – Desirable:
- Data Protection specific certifications – such as CIPP/E & CIPM
- Is legally qualified through a legal degree, resulting in less Data Protection experience required
- Ability to speak another major European language
