Description
Marcus Donald are currently looking to source an Information Governance Lead to join a large education organisation.
**This is a fully remote / home-based position - all over UK**
Within this role, you will have a small team reporting to you. You will aim to establish and maintain the information security management system, governance activities across the global organisation, with a focus on UK GDPR.
The Information Governance Lead will be responsible for BAU activities of information governance management and data privacy compliance to GDPR. You will be a part of the practical team which responds to data breach incidents and coordinates responses to SARs in compliance with UK GDPR. You will also contribute to IG change assessments including DPIA, DPbDD, and third-party contract reviews, working with the business to assess compliance, identify threats and carry out risk assessments.
Information Governance Lead – Main Responsibilities:
- First 6 months - Continue to drive the organisation to maintain and update ROPA.
- Excellent technical knowledge of data privacy legislation including the GDPR and strong experience of delivering operational compliance into a complex, established environment.
- Develop and maintain an aligned set of effective policies and processes which are under continuous review and improvement along an achievable and risk-aligned maturity path for these policies.
- Lead internal audit activities that will independently assure ongoing compliance and maintenance of appropriate controls and registers that assure the integrity of the organisations data privacy standards.
- Advise and ensure that suitable contracts are in place with suppliers which enforce necessary IG standards and obligations. Work with senior stakeholders to ensure these are maintained, evidenced, and audited to assure compliance.

Information Governance Lead – Required:
- 3 years minimum experience in an Information Governance-related role.
- Robust understanding of Data Protection and ROPA processes
- Excellent knowledge and experience in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
- Robust Experience and knowledge in DPIAs & SARs.
- Previous experience in dealing with incidents and tackling legacy systems.
- Excellent technical knowledge of data privacy legislation including the GDPR and strong experience of delivering operational compliance into a complex, established environment
- Strong overall technical background as opposed to legal
- Experience in producing reports, plans, and presenting information to a variety of audiences.
