My Banking client has an exciting opportunity to hire a Data Protection Officer who is looking to be a part of a fast-paced environment and challenge themselves within their career.
Within this role, you will be providing support and advice to the rest of the company to make sure it meets its legal and regulatory requirements regarding data protection. You will need to be confident working individually as the role operates is quite self-driven.
Data Protection Officer – Main Responsibilities:
- Advising and investigating potential data protection breaches
- Ensuring the compliance of policies with applicable laws and regulations
- To advise and assist on the data protection implications of financial promotions and customer communications.
- To respond to data subject access requests on behalf of our client
- Ensure data breaches are investigated and remedial actions are taken.
- Proactively identify business risks and issues in relation to data protection
- Act as a point of contact for any data protection queries.
- Complete risk assessment and establish ongoing controls, tools, and templates to ensure compliance across all business functions.
Data Protection Officer – Required:
- Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills with the proven ability to influence credibly at the senior level
- Experience in drafting policies, interpreting legal contracts, and report writing ability to analyse/ interpret legislative requirements and develop, implement, and manage appropriate organisational practices/ policies and solutions
- Able to explain complex issues in a straightforward and understandable manner
- In-depth knowledge of data protection laws within the UK and Europe
- Previous management experience
- Experience in developing and working with appropriate performance management tools and processes within the data protection field
- Experience in providing data protection and compliance advice, guidance to others
- Specialist knowledge of the practical application of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)
- Comprehensive Knowledge of GDPR / FOI (General Data Protection Regulation / Freedom of Information Act) and related legislations/ provisions and practices
- Use own initiative and professional knowledge/judgment to assess and manage risk and identify/ resolve complex problems
Data Protection Officer – Desired:
- ISO Certifications
- Knowledge of other worldwide data protection laws
- Experience within a legal, audit, and/or risk function department
Being a Data Protection Officer, the job role may come with bonuses. Such as 25 days holiday per annum, excluding bank holidays, and private medical care with days off sick pay throughout the year.
